Connect A PC Direct To Your TV

While you can watch all of the content above on your laptop or desktop PC the best way by far to watch TV is still on your hdtv.  How do you do this?  Set up a new or recycled PC specifically as an internet PC and attach it directly to your big screen TV.  You can also attach your laptop to the TV and view content on the big screen.

The following YouTube videos discuss the options that are available to optomize your PC to TV connection for the best connection available.

For best results your computer’s video card and your TV will hopefully have either DVI or HDMI connections.  Be sure that you have the very latest video drivers on your computer from the video card manufacturers website.  For best results set the display properties on your computer to show either 1080i or 1080p (1920×1080 resolution) or 720p (1280×720).

Additional Viewing Methods

Web content can be viewed on many new internet connected TV’s, DVR’s, and various devices such as the ROKU streaming player and the WD TV Live Plus HD Media Player.

Netflix support is built into the XBOX 360, but requires a subscription to XBOX Live.  Netflix can also be viewed on the WII or PS3game systems, each of which requires a free disk from Netflix, plus many other devices.

Playon.TV is a program that runs on a computer anywhere in your home network and streams full length video from various websites to an XBOX, WII, PS3 or other device attached to your TV.  Cost of the PC software is $40 for the first year and $20 for subsequent years or $80 for lifetime subscription.  It does work very well though.
