I did a double take when I saw the price on Mirror’s Edge, and that prompted me to look at the rest a little closer. there were at least a half a dozen price stickers stacked up on the placard for SOCOM, so it has probably been on clearance for a while, hence a big YMMV. I got the last copy of SOCOM, but they had plenty of copies of Mirror’s Edge.

Note; Even though their service is usually great, you still have to watch these SOB’s.
THEY WILL do a “complimentary” check of your car. Then you will be told that some belt, filter, etc, needs to be replaced or serviced. It’s usually some easy to replace part. Ocassionally they will tell you your new car needs brakes (it happened to me on the first 3k oil change!).

Not super hot, but was at my local Sam’s in Bangor, ME last night and they have the PS3 80GB core system for $317.01, several in stock. I decided to grab one based on the following assessment:1) Although price drops are rumored, I haven’t heard anything concrete
2) PS3 is easy to swap out the hard drive, so I don’t see the point in paying extra for the 160GB model
3) Target has a bundle with a couple greatest hits games for $399, but those games aren’t worth the $83 price difference
4) Dell deal with 15% off may be comparable or better, depending on sales tax. For me it’s about the same but the Sam’s return policy gives me both hardware and price protection
5) I don’t want to apply for a Sony credit card, so the Sony deal is out
Unrelated to this specific deal, I am starting to think the PS3 is actually not a bad price compared to the XB360. I’ve been an XB guy since launch, but have had more than my share of bad consoles and resulting repairs. I knew that eventually I would need a Blueray player given the demise of the HD-DVD format. A couple things I like so far about the PS3:1) Built-in wireless networking - nothing new I guess, but I never knew it had that built-in. $$$ extra for XB360.
2) Controller essentially includes the equivalent of the XB play & charge kit. $ extra for XB360.
3) Internal power supply is a nice touch.
4) Takes standard HDMI cable, while nothing on the XB is standard, although hacks are possible
5) Easily upgraded hard drive, not the proprietary fiasco XB has going on.Anyway, not a bad deal and I finally have a PS3. Now I need to find a deal on Killzone 2 & I’ll be set.

Just got back from K-Mart tonight and saw a few of these on the electronics clearance shelves here in Albany Oregon. It says Beginner-Intermediate, but guessing these aren’t the best things out there. I got one of these a while ago on a deal online for $25 and thought that was a steal for a Meade 60mm telescope with decent tripod included, and 2 eyepieces. There is also some Meade astronomy software in there too, I installed mine but haven’t used it. Good luck these may be hard to find, but at this price would be nice to get one for early stock up for kid’s Christmas presents.Here is a link to see what it looks like:

I generally do not like seeing eBay deals posted here but I thought this one may be a fit for some of you. eBay seller avistausa has what looks to be about 30 of these units for $2,299.00 shipped. 8% Bing brings it down to $2,115. I was able to use a paypal coupon to bring it down another $100 bucks (it was an account-specific coupon, you either get them or you don’t). There are three separate listings with 10 units each. Here is the link to one of them.I think this deal is hot because this set is virtually impossible to find new and is well regarded. There are obviously some pitfalls to the deal though.Olevia’s financial woes are well documented, and they no longer offer warranty service. I have priced a few different warranties and was quoted in the $200-235 range for 2 years in-home coverage. there are some coupons out these that can bring the warranty price down a bit.Woot has sold a bunch of these for about $2,300 shipped over the past year. There was this thread regarding Toshiba on sale at Bestbuy for $449, with AMD Athlon QL-65 processor. Was also noted there is similar model available at Costco with Intel T6400, price is $599 in store and there is $100 coupon in Costco coupon book. Costco model has slightly faster processor, plus comes with Costco’s excellent 90 day return policy and 2 year warranty (versus BestBuy’s 14 day return policy and 1 year warranty). Costco model is exclusive to Costco, so hard to find reviews and comparisons. However, you can configure similar model on Toshiba site (L300-ST2501), you find lots of reviews there. 112 reviews, rated 5 stars. Configured as sold at Costco it’s $675, but still 1 year warranty, no 2 year offered but 3 year is $85 more. Here is detail product specs for Costco’s model (click here).We chose the Costco model, picked this unit up for my daughter for college. Feels solid, looks good, still early to tell anything significant but it’s working. Having 90 day return was primary decision point — plus 2 year warranty is plus too.
